A Story behind Ferguson “The shooting of Michael Brown”
The shooting of Michael Brown occurred on August 9, 2014, in Ferguson, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Brown, an 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Darren Wilson, 28, a white police officer. The disputed circumstances of the shooting and the resultant protests and civil unrest received considerable attention in the United States and abroad.
Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking down the middle of the street when Wilson drove up and ordered them to move to the sidewalk. Brown and Wilson struggled through the window of the police vehicle until Wilson's gun was fired, either intentionally or as a result of the struggle. Brown and Johnson then fled in different directions, with Wilson in pursuit of Brown. Wilson shot Brown six times, killing him. Witness reports differ as to whether and when Brown had his hands raised, and whether he was moving toward Wilson, when the final shots were fired. Some witnesses reported that Brown was shot several times in the back although all three autopsies showed that Brown was not shot in the back.

Jury’s Decision: A Ferguson grand jury decided it will not bring criminal charges against Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. The city is bracing for potentially huge demonstrations in the wake of the decision.
OBAMA’s REACTION
"We need to accept that this decision was the grand jury's to make," Obama said Monday night. "There are Americans who agree with it, and there are Americans who are deeply upset, even angry. It's an understandable reaction. But I join Michael's parents in asking anyone who protests this decision to do so peacefully."

Country Reactions:
Protests in a number of U.S. cities following the decision by a grand jury not to indict a Ferguson, Mo., police officer in the shooting death of a black teenager were primarily peaceful Monday night, though some vandalism occurred in at least one city.

In New York, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Union Square in Manhattan. When the grand jury decision was announced, word quickly spread through the crowd. In a few minutes, most were holding one fist up in the air as they observed a moment of silence that lasted nearly five minutes.

In Oakland, Calif., where street protests often have turned violent in recent years, a crowd of several hundred protesters filled more than two blocks of the downtown, moving through streets beating drums and chanting “shut it down for Michael Brown,” as police in riot gear trailed them and helicopters roared overhead.

Celebrities Reactions:
Pharrell Williams: I’m heartbroken over the news of no indictment in Ferguson. Let's all pray for peace.
Katy Perry: Feeling stuck all the way over here in Sydney seeing the news just now... Sending my prayers to Ferguson & praying for an equal America.
Charlie Sheen: Officer Wilson, You are a murderer. Shame on you. Parents are NOT supposed to bury their children. You think about that...
Nick Cannon: No need for the gas, we already had tears.
Earvin Magic Johnson: I am very disappointed with decision in the Mike Brown case in Ferguson, MO.

HOPE FOR PEACE SOON……..NO SHOOTING LIKE MICHAEL BROWN
