South Africa's Rolene Strauss has been named the winner of the
Miss World 2014 competition in a London finale televised in many parts of the
world.

The Miss World 2014 winner, in the question
and answer segment, said that she should win the pageant because “Unity,
respect, forgiveness exist and are the aspirations of the Miss World
organisation. Humanity, forgiveness and peace is important,” and she has all
these qualities. And, it looks like the judges agreed.
Meanwhile, the Miss World 2014 pageant
favourite, Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss took away the coveted title. The
22-year-old beauty queen was crowned onstage at the competition’s grand finale
at the Excel London ICC Auditorium.
The
multi-talented Rolene loves to play golf and netbal and she also loves to go
cycling and read books. Apart from focusing on her career, she loves to pursue
music in her free time. She can play flute, guitar and piano, with aplomb,
according to Miss World's official site. She may have to give her interests a rest for a while, as she
will be travelling for a year and will be fulfilling her charitable duties as
the new Miss World.
In
addition to being a student of Mass Communication, Thorpe works part-time as a
freelance writer and as a fashion stylist. She wishes to write a series of
educational books for children. She is interested in modern History and her
favourite book is "Diary of Anne Frank." Thorpe also has an
adventurous side, as she enjoys wake boarding, horse riding, camping and
boating.
